Biography

George Haupt of Hanover Township, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, purchased 60 acres for $1,200 from Joseph R. Ketter in Chillisquaque Township in Northumberland County on April 10, 1841. No wife was listed. Deed recorded on April 10, 1841. One of witnesses listed as William Haupt.

Mary Haupt, 54 and her husband, George Haupt, 59, were listed in the 1850 census living in Chillisquaque Township (near Milton), Northumberland County, Pennsylvania with their six children - Henry (1827), Charles (1829), Adeline (1832), Mary (1834), Ruben (1837) and Sarah (1841).

George Haupt of Chilisquaque Township, Northumberland County, and Mary, his wife, late Mary Balliet, daughter and heir of Jacob Balliet, Northampton County, Pennsylvania and Barbara Balliet, late of Delaware Township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, were paid $180 in satisfaction owed for the two estates by John Dentler on July 18, 1857. Deed recorded June 27, 1859.

Mary Haupt was last listed in the 1860 census living with her son, Reuben Haupt, but no husband was listed.

George Houpt of Chillisquaque Township, Northumberland County, and Mary, his wife, sold 1 acre and 10 perches to Charles Houpt of the same place for $35 on December 13, 1856. This being part of the same tract of land sold by Joseph Ketler & wife by deed dated April 7, 1841 to George Haupt. Deed recorded March 20, 1863. One of witnesses was listed as William Haupt.

Letters of Administration for the estate of Mary Haupt, Chillisquaque Township, Northumberland County, were granted on February 13, 1863.

Marker knocked over near two large trees that had been recently cut down. No marker for George Haupt was found, but next to this was a worn marker that was unreadable.
