He was born in Altoona, son of the late Charles and Pearl (Burkhart) Moorehead. He married Margaret Patti, and she preceded him in death June 20, 1980.
Surviving are two daughters: Jeanne Price of Tyrone and Mary Ann Gastiger of State College; five grandchildren: Tammy and David Chathams, Sterling and Sherry Price and Jeremy Gastiger; 10 great-grandchildren: Angela and David Walls, David and Shawn Chathams, Brian Price, Jessie and Dustin Wheeland, Erica Rumberger, Brandon Laird and Ava Dixon; three great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Melody; two grandchildren: Roger and Charlie Price; a great-grandchild, Curtis Rumberger; a sister, Virginia Shaw; and a brother, Robert.
Ralph was a 1933 graduate of Altoona High School. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He retired from the sewage treatment plant in Altoona.
Ralph was a member of Garden Heights Evangelical United Brethren Church and the Altoona VFW. He enjoyed dancing, bowling and helping others in their time of need.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park Cemetery (www.thegoodfuneralhomeinc.com), where a funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday by Pastor William Glunt. Interment at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
