DURHAM: "Granny" Dolphine Shambley Clements went home to be with the Lord September 10, 2011, after a heroic battle of declining health. She was born July 25, 1922 and raised in Orange County by the late Willie and Martha Shambley. She was such a wonderful mother, grandma, great grandma, sister and friend to many.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Ann Shaw Rippy ( DL); sons, George Shaw (Paulette), Wyatt Wimpy Clements Jr.; sisters, Myra Faye Shambley Sorohan, Juanita Shambley Barton, Joesphine Shambley Riley; and many grandkids and great grand kids. She was preceded in death by her sons, Tassey Lee Tilley Sr. and Johnny Edgar Tilley Sr.
Granny had worked many different jobs from working in Food Service in Durham County Schools to keeping children in her home. She was such a strong lady with lots of life even until she passed away. She loved to garden, sew, cook, and was known for her many other attributes. Granny touched lives in many ways everywhere she went.
The funeral service will be held at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church in Durham Tuesday at 3pm. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2-3pm at Mt. Hermon. Anyone wishing to bring food to the family, please bring it to the fellowship hall the day of the service.
The family is being assisted in Durham by Clements Funeral Service, Inc.
