Son of John A. & Rachel (Kinchen) Cooley.

He married Elizabeth Higgins Trull in 1802. She died in 1830.

They were the parents of 14 children.

It is believed that Wiliam was born 1780-1785 and died between 1845-1850. (He was on the MS Census in 1845, but his wife was listed on US Census 1850 as a widow, living with her son John.)

William was the son of John A. Cooley (a Revolutionary War Patriot) and his wife, Rachel. It is believed and mostly accepted that William's mother was Rachel Kinchen, although it hasn't been proven.

1817 - Residence, Mississippi; (According to History of Calcasieur, LA, pg. 226; William & family moved to Mississippi in 1817, Wayne Co. existed and north was Choctaw lands. In 1829 Wayne co. extended into Indian lands. Jasper and Clarke County were formed from the northern part of Wayne County and Jones County on the west).
