WATERBURY — Services for Mrs. Dorothy (Parker) Chambers, 85, of Waterbury, were held Tuesday, January 11, at the O'Donnell Funeral Home. Burial was in Wolcott Cemetery.
Mrs. Chambers, widow of John Gilbert Chambers, died Sunday, January 9, at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. She was born in Manchester, January 10, 1908, daughter of the late Benton and Mattie (Johnston) Parker, and lived in Waterbury most of her life. She was educated in Manchester schools and employed by Scovill Manufacturing Co. as a cost accountant for many years, retiring in 1969. She was a member of the Forever Young Club of the YWCA and a member, past president and trip chairwoman of the American Association of Retired Persons, Waterbury Chapter. She was a member of Mill PIain Union Church. She was an avid traveler and collector of saltcellars.
She leaves two sons, John Chambers of Lilburn, Ga., and Richard Leigh Chambers of Oakville; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
