Jean Smith Fortin, 80, of Fort Worth passed away at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, at a Fort Worth medical center.
Graveside service: 11 a.m. Saturday in Santa Fe Cemetery, Santa Fe, Ind.
Jean was born April 27, 1929, in Peru, Ind., the daughter of Emil and Miriam Macy Smith. She graduated from Butler Township High School in 1947 and was the valedictorian of her class.
She retired after 30 years, employed by the Air Force as human resource supervisor. She was a member of Loree Brethren Church, Haltom City Senior Center, Moose Lodge, VFW and American Legion.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gary Miller; a daughter, Nancy Miller; and sisters, Jo Ann Wise and Emily Stafford.
Survivors: Son, Larry Miller of Peru, Ind.; daughter, Carol Beard of Fort Worth; brothers-in-law, Arthur Wise of Rochester, Ind., and Wayne Stafford of Indianapolis, Ind.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
