A.E. Prosser was born August 14, 1836, in Orange county, Indiana. In 1855 he started for Minnesota, coming from Dubuque to St. Paul on the steamer "Lady Franklin." He arrived at St. Peter May 10, 1855, and pre-empted a farm. For some time he was in the office of the "St. Peter Courier." He moved on the farm in 1858, and is settled on section 33, Elysian. Enlisted in 1864 in Company H, Second Minnesota. Has held nearly all the offices in the gift of the citizens; is now [in 1882] supervisor and justice of the peace, also, reporter to the agricultural department in Washington. In December, 1857, he was wedded to Miss Elizabeth Ulven. [History of the Minnesota Valley, p. 512]

Enlisted as a Private on 18 November 1864 at the age of 28.
Drafted into Company H, 2nd Infantry Regiment Minnesota on 18 November 1864. Discharged on 20 June 1865.

Died:- Sunday Jan. 28th, at his home in Greenland, Mr. A.E. Prosser at the age of 58 years. The funeral services took place Tuesday at the M.E. church and were conducted by Rev. J. Blackhurst. Mr. Prosser was born in Indiana Aug. 17, 1836. For 36 years preceding his death he had been a resident of Le Sueur County, Minn. He was a devout and active member of the Methdist church and was greatly beloved and esteemed for his genuine and practical Christian virtues and consistent life. The deceased left a wife, seven daughters and two sons to mourn his loss and a large number of earnest sympathizing friends.
