She was a graduate of St. Augustine College in Raleigh, NC, where she met and married John O. Saunders. She lived in Washington, D.C. since 1953, and taught in the D.C. Public Schools from 1953 to 1994, mainly at the Louis Charles Rabaut Junior High School in Washington.
She is survived by her three children, Chinetta L. Saunders, Angela Saunders Joyner, & John O. Saunders, Jr.; her former husband, John O. Saunders, Sr.; grandsons, Michael, Brandon, & Ryan; three sisters, and a brother, and other relatives.
Interment followed Mass of Christian Burial and Rosary conducted at the St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Washington, D.C., Friday, August 29, 2008.
