Charles W. Peckinpaugh, 67, of Lima, died at 8:24 p.m. Jan. 19, 2001 at Lima Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 5, 1933 in Leipsic to Chester and Florence Nesbit Peckinpaugh. On Dec. 31, 1953, in Bowling Green, he married Sara Ruff Peckinpaugh, who survives.

Peckinpaugh taught at Bath Elementary School. He was principal of Allen East Elementary and Ada Elementary, retiring in 1986. He was a member of Forest Park United Methodist Church and Elks Lodge 54. He was active in the Ohio Teachers Association and the YMCA. After his retirement, he was active in Automotive Restoration.

Survivors also include two daughters, Cindy (Lee) Yeaton of Naperville, Ill. and Beth Peckinpaugh of Akron; two brothers, Don Peckinpaugh of Napoleon and Bob Peckinpaugh of Leipsic; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, William Joseph "Bill" Peckinpaugh; a brother, Ed Peckinpaugh; and a sister, Louise Arnold, and step-mother Irene Peckinpaugh.

Services were held Tuesday at Forest Park United Methodist Church. The Rev. Larry Hopkins officiated. Burial was in Sugar Ridge Cemetery, Leipsic.
