He was appointed Deputy County Treasurer in 1869, and remained in the office five years; and was then Deputy County Clerk, which position he held three years. In 1877, he engaged in the real estate and insurance business with Mr Benjamin A Duffy.
He was married 15 Oct 1872 in Livingston Co, IL to Miss Annie A Gore of Pontiac.
