Born April 22, 1904 in Love's Mill, VA., she moved with her family to Creston, Wash., at age two. She grew up in Creston, and graduated from Cheney Normal in the early 1920s. She taught school in Peach, Wash., and worked in a bank in Greenacres, Wash., before the Depression.
She married William Garland Jan. 25, 1932, in Colfax, Wash. She worked for Elliott Motors in Coeur d'Alene in the 1950s and retired in 1962.
She is survived by her husband Bill, in the home; brothers Ralph Barbre of Harrington, Wash., Paul Barbre of Omak, Wash., and James Barbre of Ephrata, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial service is 11 a.a. Thursday in Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d'Alene Chapel, with Rev. John Filler officiating. The family suggests memorial be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
