Entered into rest on Monday, April 10, 2006, at University Hospital, Mrs. Pauline Chase Porter, 85, wife of Bernie Porter.

Mrs. Porter was a native of Hoosick, NY. She traveled the world with her husband who was in the US Army and settled in Augusta in 1959. She and Mr. Porter founded the Augusta Club Shop and operated it for more than 20 years. She was a devoted member, treasurer and chairperson of the Veterans Committee of the DAR and a member of the Augusta X-POW Association. She was very active in her church, St. Augustine Episcopal Church, and among other roles, she was clerk of the Vestry.

Family members include her husband of 64 years, Bernie Porter of Augusta; daughter, Pat Gold of Canton, GA; son-in-law, Dr. Nugget Gold; son, Jerry Porter of Deland, FL; daughter-in-law, Peggy Porter; grandchildren, Megan Gold, Michael Gold, Shanna Johnson and husband, Erie Johnson, Kendi Gilmore and husband, Chris Gilmore, Beth Porter Nelson and husband, Major Jay Nelson, Rev. Melody Porter and three great-grandchildren.

A Memorial service will be held Thursday, April 13, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. at St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church on Wheeler Rd. with Rev. Harriette Simmons, Rev. Joe Bowden and Rev. John Warner officiating.

Memorials may be made to St. Augustine Episcopal Church, 3321 Wheeler Rd., Augusta, GA 30909 or the Augusta Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, 3029 Pine Needle Rd., Augusta, GA 30909.

The family will receive friends Thursday, April 13, 2006 beginning at 1:00 P.M. in the Church Northex.
