Obituary:
Freeport – Maurice E. Grant, age 77 of Prout Road, died Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at his residence after a long illness. He was born in Skowhegan on July 7, 1929, the son of Furney E. and Gladys McDaniel Grant. Maurice attended Madison and Skowhegan schools, and served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War. He worked for many years at Portland Copper and Tank. He later worked at Southworth Machine for a time, and then at U.S. Gipsum from where he retired. Mr. Grant had lived in Freeport for 33 years, coming there from Scarborough. He is predeceased by a brother, Reginald Thompson; and three sisters, Doris Davis, June Berry, and Joyce Huffman.
There will be no day of visitation. A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, March 3, at the First Freewill Baptist Church, Church Road, Brunswick. Burial will be at the Rogers Cemetery in Topsham in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Maine Cancer Foundation, PO Box 553, Portland, ME 04112.
