William Frank Thompson

William Frank Thompson, 89, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2009 in Ogden, Utah. He was born December 31, 1919 in Scipio, Utah to Orvil Harold Thompson and May Walters. Frank was the second of five children. As a young boy, he worked in Pleasant Grove on a dairy farm and other farms in the area. He moved to Ogden in 1940 and worked for the Defense Depot. He married Colleen Hope on September 18, 1945, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on April 28, 1948.

Frank worked at Hill Air Force Base and spent time in Vietnam during the war on temporary duty. He was a very hard-working man who retired from HAFB after 28 years of service. Frank was an active member of the LDS church and enjoyed serving others. His random acts of kindness include shoveling driveways, fixing pipes, and lending a helping hand.

Frank's favorite pastime was fishing with his friends and family. There was a huge grin on his face when he came home with the catch of the day. His greatest joy was his family and he loved to sing, tickle, and tell his grandkids stories. He enjoyed making people laugh and was always seen with a bright smile. Frank was a loving and devoted husband who celebrated 63 years of marriage with his one and only sweetheart.

He is survived by his loving wife, Colleen Thompson; his children, Denise (Stephen) Adams, Layton; Vivian Moyes, Layton; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and his sister Carol Petersen, Ogden.

Frank was preceded in death by his mother, father, one brother and two sisters.

Memorial services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at Leavitt's Mortuary 836 36th Street, Ogden. Friends and family may call Friday, July 10, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary.
