Bamberg - Nicholas Calhoun Black, 80, died Monday in an Orangeburg hospital. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Cooner Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Orangeburg. Mr. Black was born Nov. 23, 1896, in Barnwell County, a son of the late Thomas S. Black and Mrs. Gatsie Grubbs Black. He was a retired merchant and a member of the First Baptist Church of Bamberg and Ornam Lodge 38, AFM. Surviving are: his widow, Mrs. Ella Dukes Black of Bamberg; a son, Nicholas C. Black Jr. of Chicago; a daughter, Mrs. Eleanor Hunter of Orangeburg; two brothers, Thurman Black of Barnwell and Sam Black of Bamberg; and five grandchildren.
