Lee Pool was a Milam County deputy sheriff when he was killed by an outlaw named Will Jacobs, 10-miles southwest of Rockdale. A newspaper account at the time says in part, "Deputy Pool was a young man, unmarried, and is universally esteemed as a brave and fearless officer and worthy man, and his aged parents have the sympathy of the entire people in their grief at this untimely end."
