Palmer resident Joseph Frederick Gilmore, 59, died July 3, 2007, at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage. A service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, 1150 E. Helen Drive, in Palmer. Interment will be at 2 p.m. at Fort Richardson National Cemetery. Joseph was born March 26, 1948, in Moorhead, Minn. He moved to Alaska in December 1970 and retired from the U.S. Air Force in March 1997. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, fishing, hunting, camping and knife-making. His family wrote, "Joe will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him." Joe was preceded in death by his father, John Gilmore, and his maternal and paternal grandparents. He is survived by his mother, Mary Gilmore of Staples, Minn.; spouse, Sandra Gilmore of Palmer; son, John Gilmore of Anchorage; daughter and son-in-law, Stacey and Troy Sodders of Logan, Iowa; sisters and brothers-in-law, Catherine and Dick Adams of Randall, Minn., Margaret and Ronald Stelck of Cushing, Minn., and Theresa Gilmore- Blakley and husband Kerry of Pollock, N.C.; and grandchildren, Sammy, Stacia, Pat and Seth all of Logan, Joseph of North Pole, and Juliet and Archer of Anchorage.
