ADA - Merlin (Floyd) Deringer, 79, died at 9 p.m. Sunday in the Hardin County Home and Hospital, Kenton, where he had resided two months.
Born Oct. 16, 1896, in Hardin County, he was a son of Alvin J. and Anna McElroy Deringer. On Jan. 26, 1921, he married Minnie M. Rockey who died Dec. 21, 1975.
Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Allen of Sarasota, Fla.; a grandchild; and a half-brother, Carl of Bluffton.
A retired trackman and foreman of the Pennsylvania Railroad, he was a member of the Brotherhood of Ways and Maintenance Railroad Organization and the Ada First United Methodist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Hanson Funeral Home, Rev. Raymond Sharritts officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
