Michele, age 40, died unexpectedly with her family by her side on Thursday at St. Mary's Hospital, Madison. She was born the daughter of Tony & Mary (Raabe) Markhardt. Michele was a 1987 graduate of the Fall River High School and a 1991 graduate of UW-Stevens Point, majoring in psychology. Michele was married to Tim Horton on Feb. 2, 2002, in Jamaica. She was employed at Dodge County Human Services in Juneau, as a juvenile social worker. Michele loved shopping and traveling, but most importantly, was devoted to her family. Michele was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Columbus. Survivors include her husband, Tim of Columbus, WI; two children, Tyler and Lindsey; parents, Tony and Mary Markhardt of Columbus, WI; one sister, Robyn (Matt) Johnson of Fall River, WI; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roger and Margaret Horton of Fox Lake; brother-in-law, James (Margaret Romens) Horton of Columbus, WI; sister-in-law, Lisa (James) Stefanski of Tomah, WI; two nieces, Hailey Johnson and Marisa Stefanski; four nephews, Logan Johnson, Benjamin and Adam Lang, Joshua Stefanski; aunts; uncles; other relatives; and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; and sister-in-law, Lori Lang. Memorial service was held at the funeral home. Private family graveside inurnment. Michele will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
