Waunakee--Albert L. "Missouri Al" Mefford, 73, Waunakee, operator of the Missouri Tavern on Highways 12 and 13 in the town of Springfield for the past 25 years, died today in a Madison hospital to which he was admitted April 17.
A native of Missouri, he was a former member of the First Christian Church of Hunnewell, Missouri. In this area he had been an avid hunter and fisherman, and was a life member of the Middleton Sportsmen's Club.
Mr. Mefford was married October 28, 1924, to Mae Lund of Vermillion, South Dakota.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, John, of Madison; a daughter, Mrs. Albert Brann, Waunakee; a brother, Henry, Monroe City, Missouri; three sisters, Mrs. Eva Vaughn, Mexico, Missouri, Mrs. Lacy Patterson, Florida, Missouri, and Mrs. Carrie Houschulte, St. Louis, Missouri and two grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were to be made at the Gruber funeral home, Middleton.
