Rudolph Schmidke(note *last name spelled incorrectly)of 1024 Fremont St Kiel died Wednesday morning at the Park Lawn Nursing Home in Sheboygan where he had lived for the past month.
Born in Germany March 5, 1876, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Schmidtke and came to this country when he was 8 years old.
On March 2, 1902 he married Wilhelmina Spann of the Town of Schleswig. They lived in the town following their marriage later moved near Kiel and Moved to the city of Kiel 30 years ago. His wife die in August 1939.
He was employed by the City of Kiel until his retirement 10 years ago.

Survivors are one daughter Mrs. Irwin (Helen) Weiskopf of Sheboygan and a son Oscar of Calumetville. One daughter also preced him in death.

Services will be held Friday at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, with pastor of ST. Peter Evangelical Church officiating. Burial will be in Ucker Cemetery

Schmidtke, Rudolph (March 5, 1876-June 24, 1959 –husband of Wilhelmina Spann [married March 2, 1902 in religious ceremony in Town of New Holstein, Calumet County] –son of Frederick Schmidtke and Auguste Jonas –his mother Auguste later married Gustave Thiedemann –born in Germany –immigrated to the US on the boat America, departing from the Port of Bremen and arriving in the Port of Baltimore on Oct. 15, 1885 in company of his mother, his elder sister Anna [age 11], plus his half-sister Agnes Thiedemann [age 6 months] –from April 14, 1906 to Feb. 14, 1912 owned the 120 acre farm centered at 8012 State Highway 67 in Section 30, Town of Eaton –after this sale, purchased a farm in the Town of Schleswig –retired from farming about 1930 and moved to the City of Kiel –employed by the City of Kiel until his retirement in 1949 –from Feb. 14, 1912 to Oct. 2, 1915 owned the house at 22008 Townline Road in Steinthal in Section 33, Town of Eaton –residence at time of death was 1024 Fremont Street, Kiel –died from “edema of lungs –cardiac insufficiency –diabetes”) –buried at Ucker Cemetery, Town of Schleswig [marriage record Manitowoc 7-204] [death record Manitowoc 53-365]
