Selwyn Joseph Wyzanski, 90, of Merritt Island, Fla., formerly of Marblehead and Lakeport, N.H., passed away April 30, 2007, with his beloved wife of 63 years, Margaretta (Chamberlain), holding his hand and loved ones surrounding them both.

A graduate of Salem High School, Mr. Wyzanski was the son of Alexander A. Wyzanski and Eulalia (Letts). He attended Wentworth Institute, Lowell Institute at M.I.T. and Texas A&M. He served his country during World War II as an Army MP with the 397th Military Police Escort Guard Unit.

After the war, he became a registered professional engineer in Massachusetts and retired as chief design engineer of Badger Company Inc., Cambridge, designers and builders of oil refineries, chemical and desalination plants worldwide.

Mr. Wyzanski was a member of Georgianna United Methodist Church, Merritt Island, a former member and finance chairman of St. Stephen's United Methodist Church, Marblehead, an avid stamp collector, a supporter and former institutional representative of Troop 11, Boy Scouts of America and, in his youth, an outdoorsman. He particularly enjoyed climbing Mts. Chocorua in New Hampshire and Katahdin in Maine numerous times. Along with a dear friend who was a Maine guide, he also refurbished an Old Town canoe and built the first log cabin next to the Pleasant River on the road to Millinocket.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Wyzanski leaves two children, Linda W. Doliber and her husband Donald Sr. of Marblehead and Richard S. Wyzanski and his wife Trinidad of Pompano Beach, Fla. He also leaves three grandchildren, Donald A. "Skip" Doliber Jr. of Salem, Joy E. Doliber of Marblehead and Boca Raton, Fla., and Richard Z. Wyzanski of Pompano Beach, Fla; also many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements in Florida were made by Florida Memorial Gardens of Rockledge. Private burial will be at Harborview Cemetery, Marblehead. A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held at St. Stephen's United Methodist Church, 67 Cornell Road, Marblehead, Saturday, June 2 at 10 a.m.
