Born in Brooklyn, Christopher was brought to Dongan Hills in 1996 and settled in South Beach with his family five years ago.
He attended Egbert Intermediate School in Midland Beach and Dreyfus Intermediate School, Stapleton. He also attended South Richmond High School.
Christopher had plans to get his GED and become a firefighter. He was currently working at the Chez Vous catering hall in Stapleton. He also worked at the South Beach Community Day Camp through the city's summer youth employment program.
His family remembered his beaming personality, always ready with a smile. He was also deeply devoted to his friends and his two young nieces, Alexis Renee Kubiak and Kayla Monica Compton.
"He was somebody who was very loyal, trustworthy, and really the best a friend could be," said his father, Michael. "He was dedicated and he loved his friends."
Growing up, he was particularly close to his brother, Daniel, who died at age fifteen in 2001, and often accompanied his parents to group sessions at "The Compassionate Friends," a support group for grieving families.
"He'd brighten your darkest moments. He'd help anybody and everybody," said Christopher's mother, Lillian.
A parishioner of St. Christopher's R.C. Church, Grant City, he played on the basketball team there and at Holy Rosary R.C. Church, South Beach. He also loved to play football.
In addition to his parents, Michael and Lillian, surviving are his brother, Michael C.; three sisters, Jennifer, Kimberly and Aprillily Kubiak; his maternal grandmother, Lillian Morelli, and his paternal grandmother, Eleanor Kubiak.
The funeral will be held on Thursday from the Martin Hughes Funeral Home, Concord, with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Christopher's Church.
Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Iselin, NJ.
