Clyde Allen Hartman Sr., 77, of Salem, Va., passed away on Friday, November 20, 2009. He was born on May 1, 1932, in Boones Mill, Va., son of the late Grover and Callie Hartman. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, George Thomas Hartman and Henry Hartman; four sisters, Dorothy Simmons, Earline Hubbard, Linda Wiley and Opal Kessler; and three half brothers, Lloyd, Jack and Forest Hartman. Mr. Hartman retired from Rowe Furniture with 30 years of service and was a member of Salem Church of Christ. He is survived by his loving wife, Audrey Guthrie Hartman; three sons and daughter-inlaw, Mark Anthony Hartman, Clyde Allen Hartman Jr., and Benjamin D. and Karen Hartman; daughter and son-in-law, Alice Y. and Greg Kosko; four grandchildren, Jordan Hartman, Morgan Hartman, Evan Kosko and Samantha Hartman; brothers, Frank "Cotton" Hartman, and G. Clarence Hartman and wife, Annie Ruth; sister, Lois Johnson; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Monday, November 23, 2009, at the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son, Salem with the Rev. Paul Sink and the Rev. G. Clarence Hartman officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 22, 2009, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. 540-389-5441.
