Word has been received by relatives here of the death of Mrs. Chas. Ball at their home at Cando, North Dakota. She passed away Tuesday morning after a short illness with neuralgia and Bright's disease. Mrs. Ball was formerly Miss Spray Shackleton, a well known and popular young lady of Jackson Township and has a host of friends here who will learn with sorrow of her death. Her brother, Floyd Shackelton, and sister, Mrs. Lizzie Brainard, of Ames, left Monday evening for that place but did not arrive until after her death. The remains will probably be brought here for burial, but no funeral arrangements are known at this time.

The funeral services of the late Mrs. Charles Ball, whose death was announced in our issue of last week, was held from the First M.E. church in this city Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock. Rev. W.G. Hohanshelt officiated and it was attended by a large concourse of old friends and relatives of the deceased. The remains were brought to this city from Egeland, North Dakota, arriving here Monday and were taken to the Welin undertaking parlors, where they were held until the funeral Tuesday. Mrs. Ball nee Spray Luella Shackleton, was born in Grangerburg, Medina County, Ohio, February 13, 1876. When a child she came to this county with her parents. On February 23, 1898, she was united in marriage to Charles Ball of Colfax Township, who with four children survive and are left to mourn her sad and untimely demise. Her mother is also living, besides three brothers, Jay Irwin and Floyd Shackleton, and one sister, Mrs. J.W. Connett. A few years ago she and her husband removed to North Dakota, where she resided up to the time of her death. On Thursday morning of last week a baby girl was born and for a few days the mother seemed to rally. She was taken ill with puerperal eclampsia and death soon ensued. Short funeral services were held at the Brethren church at Egeland, Rev. Brabaker of Ellison officiating. On Saturday morning the remains was shipped to this city for interment. The relatives of the deceased have the sympathy of all in their bereavement.
