OBITUARY - Plain Dealer, Wabash (IN) - Monday, July 22, 2002

NORTH MANCHESTER: Ruby F. Beauchamp, 93, Timbercrest Retirement Community, North Manchester, died at 4:05 p.m. Sunday, July 21, 2002, at the Timbercrest Healthcare Center.

She was born on Jan. 5, 1909, in Kirklin, to Stephen N. and Cassie (Ulrey) Walker. She married Judge John W. Beauchamp on Dec. 25, 1932. He died on Dec. 28, 1993.

Mrs. Beauchamp graduated from Delphi High School in 1926, and from Manchester College in 1930. She taught English one year in Trotwood, Ohio. She moved to Wabash in 1940 and lived here until 1981, when she moved to Timbercrest.

Mrs. Beauchamp, her husband, and brother-in-law, George Beauchamp, started Kokomo Junior College, now Indiana University, Kokomo. She and her husband traveled to 70 foreign countries. She was a Gray Lady at Wabash County Hospital, the County Farm, and the Marion Veterans Hospital. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Woman's Clubhouse Association, Round Table and Delta Theta Tau sorority.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Ann) Hunter, Wabash, and Mrs. Ronald (Beverly) Kahney, St. Louis, Mo.; six grandchildren, Diane Hunter-Bickers, Kansas City, Mo., Elizabeth Engle, North Manchester, Susan Hunter, Wabash, Lynn Bartles, St. Louis, Mo., Jennifer Thompson, Carmel, and Jonathon Kahney, Chicago; and six great-grandchildren. A brother is deceased.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Timbercrest Chapel, North Manchester. The Rev. David L. Rogers will officiate. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Grandstaff-Hentgen Manchester Avenue Chapel, and one hour prior to services Wednesday at Timbercrest Chapel. Preferred memorials are to the Scholarship Fund for Tafiseny Papaya.
