MORTON RESIDENT DIES IN MIDLAND

Morton (Special) - A long-time Morton resident, James A. Petree, 82, died at the home of a daughter in Midland Tuesday afternoon.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church here with the Rev. C. A. Lyles, Dallas, officiating. He will be assisted by the Rev. Houston Walker, pastor here. Burial will be in Morton Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Singleton Funeral Home.
Petree, a retired farmer and blacksmith, came to Morton in 1923 from Abilene. He had been in ill health for several months. He was a Baptist and formerly belonged to the Oddfellows Lodge here.
Survivors include three sons, Que, Morton; Chester, Enochs; and W. A., Blanchard, Okla.; four daughters, Mrs. Jimmy Pickett, Midland; Mrs. Elsie Schulssler, Austin; Mrs. Billy Richardson, Hobbs; and Mrs. Ed Calvert, Morton; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Anderson, Big Spring, and Mrs. Donna Abbott, Abilene; a brother, Ed Lyles, Baird; 18 grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
