Annabelle Layton, 75, Wabash, died at 3:35 a.m. Sunday (Dec. 19, 1999) at the Community Care Center in Wabash.
Mrs. Layton, a lifelong resident of the Wabash area, was a homemaker and had been a crossing guard for the Wabash City Schools for more than 25 years.
She was born April 27, 1924, in Wabash to Charles Barnes and Bertha Parks Barnes. She married Wilbur E. Layton Sept. 30, 1938, in Wabash. Her husband died Nov. 29, 1992.
Survivors include a son, Larry Layton, Wabash; two daughters, Judy Driscoll, Wabash, and Diana Bitzer, Andrews; three sisters, Mrs. Gilbert (Genevieve) Walker, Wabash, Geraldine Enyeart, LaFontaine, and Katherine Egner, North Manchester; seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by six brothers, two sisters and a grandson.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Grandstaff-Hentgen Manchester Avenue Chapel, 1177 Manchester Ave., Wabash, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Pastor Tim Prater will officiate. Burial will be at the Falls Cemetery, Wabash.
