OBITUARY: Manti Messenger, Friday, 20 March 1914 Sterling

Jay W. Peacock of this place died at Mt. Pleasant last Tuesday from a reattack of peritonitis. About ten weeks ago he was operated on for appendicitis, after which peritonitis and other complications set in and another operation was performed. For some time there were doubts about his recovery, as he lay in a critical condition. He recovered sufficiently to be brought home on Tuesday of last week, and seemed to be on the improve, but on Saturday was taken back to the hospital where he was operated on again without success. His mother, brothers and sisters and other relatives were present at the time of his death. He was the son of George D. and Kezzia Peacock, both of whom survive him. Was born in Sterling March 12, 1887. He also leaves three sisters and two brothers, George D. Peacock Jr., Ross Peacock, Mrs. J. R. Thompson, Mrs. George Braithwaite and Mrs. Byron Barton. The deceased was attending the Wasatch Academy at the time he was attacked with appendicitis. He had been a student at that institution for the past three years.

The time for the funeral services is set for 12 o'clock (noon) tomorrow at the Sterling school house, interment in the Manti cemetery.
