MYRTLE EDNA GERMAN

Myrtle Edna, daughter of Mary and Alonzo Carr, was born February 25, 1887, near Skidmore, Mo., and passed away January 5, 1948, following an operation, at the age of 60 years, ten months and ten days.

She grew to womanhood near Skidmore and on December 11, 1907 was married to Alva German at the home of her parents. In the fall of 1911, they moved to Lucas county, which has since been their home.

At an early age she united with the Baptist church and was an ardent church worker all through life. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother, a good friend and neighbor and expressed her love and sympathy to others with kind deeds. Many were cheered by bouquets of flowers from her garden, where she had spent many hours and loved so well.

Alva and Myrtle were the parents of one son, Roy German, of Chariton, who with his family mourn the loss of a mother and grandmother. Being the eldest of a family of 17 children, she was loved by them as a second mother.

In addition to her husband and son, she is survived by 12 sisters and brothers. The sisters are Mrs. Hulda Nevins, Maitland, Mo.; Mrs. Celia Wright, Carthage, Mo.; Mrs. Lovella Temple, Fresno, Calif.; Mrs. Wylda Moran, Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. Thelma Paasch and Mrs. Reid Bell, of Wolf Point, Mont.; brothers are Oliver, of Avery, Mo.; Wick, of Aladdin, Wyo.; Glenn, of St. Joseph, Mo.; and Ray, of Excelsior Springs, Mo.

She is also survived by her aged mother-in-law, whom she dearly loved; three sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law, many relatives and a host of friends who will miss her from their midst.

Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Sargent, of Norwood, were held Thursday, January 8, at 2 p.m. at the Miley funeral home. Burial was made in the Chariton cemetery.

Those attending the funeral from a distance included: Hulda Nevins, Maitland, Mo.; Ray Carr, Excelsior Springs, Mo.; Thelma Paasch, Wood Point, Mont.; Wylda Moran, Kansas City, Mo.; John Carr, Kansas City, Mo.; Ollie Phillips, Blockton, Ia.; Jesse German, Maitland, Mo.
