WORLAND, WYO---Katherine W. Achziger, 88, of Worland, Wyo. died Friday, December 28, 2001 at Worland Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be Friday, January 11, 2002, at 11 a. m. at Veile Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Dan Garnett of Zion Evangelical Church officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Worland, Wyo. Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association at 4910 South Ash St., Casper, Wyo. 82601-6320.
She was born June 16, 1913, in Gering to Henry and Eva (Rein) Wegelin. She married Fred Achziger January 14, 1932, in Gering. She was raised in Gering and attended schools there. After their marriage, the couple lived near Gering where they farmed. In 1958 the family moved to Worland and farmed southeast of Worland until his retirement. The couple then moved into town. He died on March 22, 1978, and Katherine continued to live in her home in Worland until entering the local nursing home in 1996.
She was a seamstress, working out of her home. She sewed and did alterations for many people and also made custom draperies. She was a member of the Washakie County Home Extensions clubs. She was also a member of the United Methodist Church in Worland where she was active in the United Methodist Women's activities. She enjoyed cooking for the church's annual salad tasters event.
She is survived by her sons, Dale (Marion) Achziger of Worland and John Achziger of New Jersey; daughter, Janice (Bob) Seriven of Kearney; sister, Molly Kramer of Scottsbluff; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and two step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters and two brothers,
