Age 101, died July 19, 1993. He was born March 24, 1892 in Dansville, one of the family of four of Mr. George A. and Lillian J. (Glynn) Wemple. Arthur was raised on a farm 3 miles south of Dansville, and lived or near the Dansville area all of his life. In 1918, he married Marguerite Behm: they farmed for years. He left the farm for employment with Briggs Construction Company in Dansville for about 10 years. He was also employed by F. G. Cheney Construction of Williamston, MI and then went to Brooks Construction of Fort Wayne, IN until they returned to their home state. After returning, he took up carpentry. He started employment with Wyeth, Inc in May 1942 until his retirement on April 1, 1957.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite in November 1984; and his daughter, Doris Bachman in September 1984. Surviving are his son, Nolan V. (Geri) Wemple of Mason; Sister-in-law, Florence Slusser of Mason; 7 grandchildren, Owen "Bud" Bachman, Gerald (Mary Jo) Bachman; Aaron (Cyndi) Wemple; Carolyn Wemple; Glen Wemple; Bruce Wemple and Margaret (Dennis) Hawkins; 14 great grandchildren;4 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Gorsline-Runciman Co. Ball-Dunn Chapel, Mason, with Rev. G. Robert Sawyer, Pastor of Pleasant View Free Methodist Church of Mayville, MI., officiating. Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Dansville.
