Walter was born August 16 1912 to Claude and Florence (Stiles) Boggess in New Freeport, Greene County, PA. While still a small child, his family moved to Fairmont, Marion County, WV, where he completed school. In May 1934, he married Grace McCoy in Fairview, Marion County, WV. They settled in Gassaway, Braxton County, WV, where he owned and operated a small business. He also served as Postmaster for many years. After his retirement, he and Grace spent their summers in Gassaway and their winters in Florida. He died in Collier County, Florida on December 19 1990, but his body was returned to VW for burial.
