If he immigrated in 1886, when he was age 12, he most likely came with family.
Multiple sons in the same family, could be given the first name "Johann," in Germany.
His Cook Co., IL Death record states Joseph Stephani, died on 16 May 1951 in Chicago, IL at 158 N Mason Avenue, aged 77 years, married, and was employed as a manufacturer. He was buried at Rosehill in Chicago, by Drake and Son Funeral Home.
