John was know as Jackie Brown, also was called Major. Fought in the war of 1812 with father Thomas. Buried in Jackie Brown Cemetery located on Jackie Branch Road with wife Elizabeth Wheeler Brown. His son William Wade Brown and Williams's first and second wife are buried here along with numerous other family members. Is believed John and Betsy had 16 children, which some died very young. John owned land in districts 9, 11, 12, 14. May have owned land in Putnam county which was part of Jackson county prior. John is the third Great Grandfather to Lester Flatt. This cemetery was almost lost, but to the kindness and efforts of the Goolsby family it was not. Family members are now getting involved to help save this cemetery.
