Husband of Fanny (King) McMahon
from the Rutland Daily Herald, Jan. 27, 1915:
Patrick McMahon of West Rutland, believed to have been the last member of the 13th Vermont infantry, which distinguished itself in the Civil war, died at his home late Monday night of acute indigestion, after an illness lasting only since last Thursday. Mr. McMahon was 72 years old, and was born in Ireland. He had lived for the last 40 years in either Proctor or West Rutland. He was a member of Roberts post, G.A.R., and members of the post are authority for the statement that there is not now a single surviving member of the 13th Vermont.
Mr. McMahon served with his regiment at Gettysburg, also at Fairfax, and a dozen other less famous fields. The funeral will be held at St. Bridget's church in West Rutland tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock.
Mr. McMahon is survived by a wife, six sons, George E., Fred E., Henry E., Dominick J. and William C., all of West Rutland, and Thomas J. McMahon of this city, and by one daughter, Mrs. Ella Wozzell of Rutland.
