Mrs. Joe Popp Of West Dies

Mrs. Joe E. (Emma) Popp, 69, of 204 North Harrison in West died Sunday morning in a Waco hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 8 p.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West, Rev. William Benish celebrant. Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Cemetery in West.

Mrs. Popp was born in Haskell County and had lived in the West area the past 50 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a 50-year member of SPJST Lodge No. 54. She was co-owner and operator of the Joe E. Popp Grocery in West from 1950 until her husband died August 17, 1974.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. William R. (Irene) Guthrie of Corpus Christi and Mrs. Richard R. (Jackie) Busby of Ross; a sister, Mrs. Frank (Julia) Holacka of West; two half-sisters, Mrs. Mary Rektorik of Schulenburg and Mrs. Ann Weaverof Austin; three half-brothers, Frank Hilscher of Austin, Raymond Hilscher of Stamford and J.W. Hilscher of Houston; a stepmother, Mrs. Mary Hilscher of Stamford; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Kotch Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were C.R. Blackwell, Aubrey Uptmore, Andrew Wachsman, A.C. Haberl, Calvin Popp and Louis L. Riha.
