Greta was the daughter of Roby Chester and Mary Ethel Pettit Ranson. She married John Warwick Long, Jr.

GRETA RANSON LONG, 76, of Huntington, W.Va., went to be with the Lord Monday, April 21, 2008. Greta was born December 13, 1931, in Huntington, W.Va., a daughter of the late Roby Chester and Mary Elizabeth Goolsby Ranson. She was a charter member of Grace Gospel Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for over 45 years, on the Missionary Committee, the Hospitality Committee and a volunteer in the office of the church and school. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Warwick Long Jr.; a son, Daniel E. Long; five sisters and three brothers. She is survived by two sons and one daughter, John Warwick Long III and his wife Crystal, Jeffrey Taylor Long and Jane Cox, all of Huntington; grandchildren John Warwick Long IV, Jennifer Long Waggy, Renee Long, Karen Michell Long, Joshua Taylor Long, Katherine Long and David Long; three sisters, Pauline Kittle, Betty Lambert and Marjorie Byington; one brother, James Ranson, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 26, 2008, at Grace Gospel Church, Huntington, by Pastor Keith Wiebe and Pastor Jerry Matt. Interment will follow in Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington. Friends may call Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary, Huntington. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Grace Gospel Church Missionary Fund.
