Dr. W. A. Wykel Dies In Roanoke

Dr. William A. Wykel, former Hinton physician died at 6:25 this morning in the Veterans' Hospital at Roanoke, Va. , of a heart condition.
He was born Dec. 11 1871.
The body is being brought to the E. M. Meadows Funeral Home in Hinton.

Dr. Wykel Funeral Set For Friday

Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at two o'clock at the
E. M. Meadows Funeral Home for Dr. William Alexander Wykel, 78, who died Wednesday morning at 6:45 o'clock at the Veteran's Hospital, Roanoke, Va.
The Rev. H. P. Hackney of the city, and Rev. David Harper, of Roncevert, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hartwell Cemetery on
Zion Mountain.
Dr.Wykel was born at Lillydale in Monroe County. He attended The Medical College of Virginia and has practiced Dentistry and Medicine in Summers County. He was a Veteran of the Spanish - American War. Several years ago he retired because of ill health but returned to practice during World War II. At the time of his death Dr. Wykel was the oldest member of the Peterstown Masonic Lodge.
Until a few weeks before his last illness he made his home with a daughter, Mrs. O. N. Hutchison, of Roncevert.
Survivors include two sisters; Mrs. Callie Spangler, of Bumpas Va. And Mrs Minnie Baker, of Mansfield OH. Other survivors include four half - brothers and one half - sister Mrs Mattie Lilly and Lacy Wykel, of Spanishburg: Rev. A. E. Wykel, of Benhams; Roscoe Wykel, of Beckley, Virgil, of Peterstown, and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be members of the Masonic Lodge, who will also conduct graveside services.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Summers County Medical Association, John Lively, Glendon Willey, Wiley Ailstock, Earnest Williams, L. P. Welfley, Emmett Hutchison and Arthur Willey.
