Obit.—J. N. Bailey, aged 88, died at his home at Sulphur Springs at 2 o’clock this morning. He was one the best known residents of Jefferson county and had been a resident of Arkansas for about 60 years, coming to this state before the war, in which he served as a Confederate soldier. He removed to Jefferson count from Lincoln county about nine years ago and had since made his home at Sulphur Springs.

He survived by three sons and five daughters. They are T. J., B. G. and W. T. Bailey, Mrs. Wm. Benfield, Mrs. Francis Reed, Mrs. M. McMillan, Mrs. Mamie Hankins and Mrs. Venia Thompson. The funeral will be held Friday morning at 10 o’clock with interment at Fitzhugh cemetery.

J. N. Bailey, one of the best known nd oldest residents of Jefferson county, died at his home at Sulphur Springs yesterday morning at 2 o’clock.
The funeral will be held this forenoon at 10 o’clock, with interment in Fitzhugh cemetery.
Mr. Bailey, who was 88 years of age, is survived by three sons and five daughters—T. J. Bailey, B. G. Bailey, and W. T. Bailey, and Mrs. Wm. Benfield, Mrs. Frances Reed, Mrs. M. McMillan, Mrs. Mamie Hankins and Mrs. Venia Thompson.
Mr. Bailey came to Arkansas about 60 years ago, and was here when the war between the states started. He enlisted in the forces of the Confederacy, and served with marked bravery in that historic conflict. After the war, he settled in Lincoln county, residing there until about eight years ago, when he removed to Jefferson.
