Rita E. (Quinn) Scibelli was a homemaker who was married to Michael 'Mike' W. Scibelli. Her husband worked for the Massachusetts Department of Corporations and Taxation in Springfield as the office manager, and was an assistant football coach for Cathedral High School. They raised their family in the Forest Park section of Springfield, Massachusetts. They had three children, Andrew 'Andy' Scibelli, who was a biology professor, and then Registrar at, and ultimately became the President of, Springfield Technical Community College (S.T.C.C.) in Springfield; Barbara 'Bonnie' Begley, an x-ray technician; and Michael A. Scibelli, a sergeant with the Massachusetts Department of Fisheries and Wildlife. Rita was active in politics and hosted a backyard tea for Jacqueline Kennedy, when her husband, John F. Kennedy, was running for President in 1960. It was an exciting sight for neighbors watching long, black limousines drive up to that modest, well-kept home on a quiet residential street and seeing Mrs. Kennedy disembark and go inside. Rita liked to travel and in her later years, took trips to many places around the world. Rita was a lovely person, who lead her life by example, and was a loving wife, mother and friend to many, and was 92 years old when she passed. She is sorely missed by all who knew her.
