Eleazer House Nicholls was born January 31st, 1851 in Jefferson Co, OH, a son of Washington Luther and Mary Ann House Nicholls. He was named for his mother's brother Eleazer House. The family moved to Medina Co, Ohio when Eleazer was just a baby. Then in the fall of 1867, they moved west to central Illinois, settling on a farm near Blue Mound, Macon Co, IL. His father Washington Nicholls died in 1875.
Eleazer Nicholls was married October 22nd, 1878 to Hettie Derr. They had 4 children:

Mabel Josie Nicholls b. 16 Nov 1882
Mary Ethel Nicholls b. 16 Nov 1882
Claire Victor Nicholls b. 30 Aug 1884
Eleazer's wife Hettie died July 31st,1896 at the age of just 46. He remarried 3 years later on August 31st, 1899 to Ida Belle Jordan. Son Charles Ross Nicholls married in 1903 to Eva Lenora Crow. In 1904, one of Eleazer's twin daughters Mabel Josie died at the age of 21 of typhoid. Her sister Mary Ethel married in 1908 to Samuel Bert Dillehunt. The youngest son Claire V. Nicholls also married in 1908 to Maude Botoner.
Eleazer's 2nd wife Ida Belle died May 25th, 1912 age 47, and Eleazer died 3 years later on May 17th, 1915 at the age of 64.
