Ruby Georgia (Allee) Wright, 88, of Iberia, died Saturday, October 16, 2004, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. She was born February 22, 1916, near Ben Town in Miller County, Missouri, the daughter of Horace Greeley and Cora Drucilla (Duncan) Allee.

Ruby was married May 27, 1932, at Tuscumbia to Garcia "Garsy" Lloyd Wright. The couple made their home near Eugene for 39 years until Mr. Wright's death in 1971. In 1972, Ruby acquired "Melody Lane", near Iberia, constructed in 1940 by gospel composer and publisher Haldor Lilleness. Along with her son, Merlin, she resided there until her recent hospitalization.

Ruby Wright was the author of three books: A novella, "Angeline Prevails"; "Twelve Corners", a collection of true vignettes of Ruby's childhood; and "Favorite Recipes of Ruby George Allee Wright", with an introduction by her son, Alan. A skilled seamstress and quilter, Mrs. Wright designed, pieced and hand quilted about 100 quilts, giving them as legacies to her children and grandchildren.

At the age of 15, Ruby joined the Methodist Church at the old Camp Ground Church in Camden County but later converted and was baptized into the Church of Christ at Etterville in 1940. An excellent Bible student, during her lifetime Mrs. Wright was a member of the Etterville, Eldon, Scrivner, Saline Valley and Mount View Churches of Christ.

Ruby Wright is survived by four sons and one daughter, Glennie Lloyd Wright of McIntosh, Fla.; Bernie Gail Wright and Alan Terry Wright of St. Louis; Merlin Homer Wright of the home; and Patricia Shirley (Wright) Tucker of Eldon. She leaves her memory to 16 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Wright is also survived by two brothers and one sister, Gene Tunney Allee of Stoutland; Archie Ray Allee of Sleeper; and Artie Fay (Allee) Morris of the State of Kansas. She was preceded in death by four brothers: Arbyl, Okal, Jennings and Warren Allee and three sisters: Sibyl (Allee) Wright, Mildred (Allee) Pope, and Thelma (Allee) Lupardus.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19, at Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia with Brother Brent Newton officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Union Cemetery near Brumley. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Miller County Historical Society.
