Charles Albert Cannon, Jr. was the eldest child of Charles and Ruth Coltrane Cannon.
He was a pilot during the Second World War and was lost in Southeast Asia while on a mission. The body was never recovered.

In his Memory the Cannon Family established the Charles A. Cannon, Jr. Memorial Hospital in Banner Elk, North Carolina. In 1999 it merged with the Sloop hospital of Crossnore into a combined central facility in Newland, Avery Couty, North Carolina.

A Memorial for 2LT Cannon is included in the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial in Manila, Philippines.
