Thomas was prominent in town affairs serving as chimney-viewer, constable, surveyor of highways and grand-juryman. Source- The Descendants of James Ensign the Puritan 1634-1939
The son of David & Mehitable (Gunn) Ensign, he married Hannah Shepard, daughter of John Shepard on Dec. 1, 1692. Their children:
1. Thomas b. Aug. 29, 1693, m. Hannah Hopkins
2. John b. Feb. 21, 1694, m. Elizabeth Dickinson
3. Hannah b. Jan. 30, 1697-8, m. Caleb Benton
4. Daniel b. March 27, 1702, died July 23, 1702
5. Daniel b. March 19, 1703-4, m. Abigail Goodman; went to Hartland.
6. Moses bpt. Feb. 29, 1707-9, m. Love Andrews
