Daniel Young Bittenbender was a master stonemason in Alburtis and an organist for many years at Huffs Church in Hereford Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania. His son Oscar Daniel Bittenbender (1875-1928) also was a master stonemason. You can see numerous examples of their work around the Lehigh Valley. Daniel's headstone was probably carved by his son Oscar. (Oscar also did the dark blue marble cornerstone foundation for Lehigh Zion Church in Alburtis).

Daniel Y. Bittenbender, of Lehigh Church, died Tuesday night of stomach and liver troubles, aged 72 years. He is survived by his wife, one son, Oscar D. Bittenbender, of Weilersville, and these daughters: Mrs. Austin Weiler, of Weilersville; Mrs. Wm. F. Koch, of Litzenburg P.O., and Mrs. Henry A. Schmoyer, of King of Prussia, Montgomery county; one brother, Samuel Bittenbender, of Seisholtzville; and one sister, Mrs. Susanna Hunsberger, of Reading. Funeral on Tuesday at Lehigh Church. Rev. C. E. Sandt will officiate.
