"Anonymous" left a flower with this message on December 22, 2013, which follows: "Her name comes from the Holy Bible. (Mark 5:41), a Syriac or Aramaic expression, meaning, 'Little maid, arise.' Peter, who was present when the miracle was wrought, recalled the actual words used by our Lord, and told them to Mark."
According to the following Federal Census record it appears Telitha was born in 1844, not what is shown on her tombstone.
On Nov. 20, 1850,
Talitha Cumi, age 6, lived in Mountain Township, Washington Co, AR with her parents, John & Mary Vance, ages 49 & 39 (both born in TN). John supported the family by farming.
Talitha's siblings were Thomas, age 20; Joseph, 18; Harris, 17; Martin, 15; Malinda, 13; Pennington, 11; Annie, 10; Hannah, 8; William Jasper, 4; & Sarah, 2.

Telitha, age 16, lived with her parents, John & Mary Vance, ages 64 & 50, in Mountain, Washington Co, AR. Their post office was in Billingsley. John, a farmer, had personal estate valued at $150.
Telitha's siblings were Annie, age 20; Sarah, 17; William, 13; Lucinda, 8; & Mary, 7.

In September 1870,
Alex & T.C.(Telitha Cumi) Nation, ages 33 & 25, lived in Cove Creek, Washington Co, AR on the farm next to her mother, Mary Ann Vance, a widow. Josephine, their daughter, was 5. Alex (born in TN) farmed to support the family.

They were living near Fayetteville, AR when their daughter, Mary Ann, named in honor of Telitha's mother was born on November 5, 1872. Their son, Thomas Christopher, followed on January 1, 1874.
They were living in Weddington, Washington Co, AR when their son, James Alexander was born on December 13, 1883.
Telitha died during or shortly after his birth. He died October 11, 1885; they share a headstone.
