Robert Flynn to Get Degree June 30th. Commencement exercises of Marquette university in Milwaukee, Wis., on Friday night, June 30, will find Robert U. Flynn, of Gladwin, included among the 287 candidates for degrees. Flynn is a senior in the Marquette School of Dentistry, and a candidate for the degree of doctor of dental surgery. He belongs to the naval reserve and will be commissioned as a lieutenant, junior grade, at the Marquette exercises. Gladwin County Record 6/28/1944

Opens Office in Saginaw. Dr. Robert U. Flynn, son of Mr and Mrs Frank Flynn, has announced the opening of a Dental office at 1224 Lapeer Ave., Saginaw. Dr. Flynn is a graduate of Marquette Dental School in June, 1944. Following his graduation, he served two years in the Navy, being recently discharged as a Lieutenant. Mrs Flynn and son will join him as soon as they are able to find living quarters. Gladwin County Record 7/24/1946

Robert U. Flynn, 66, of Roscommon, died Sunday, Feb. 19, in Mercy Hospital, Grayling. Born in Gladwin on December 29, 1917, he moved to Higgins Lake a year ago from Saginaw. He was a retired dentist. Dr. Flynn served in the Navy during World War II. He was a life member of the American Dental Association and a member of the Michigan Dental Association, the Houghton-Higgins Elks, St. Hubert and St. Stephen Catholic churches and the Cuckoo Club in Saginaw. He graduated from Michigan State University and Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wise. He was married to the former Vivian Towle who survives. Other survivors are 3 sons, William of Saginaw, Thomas of Avon Center, and James of Big Rapids; 4 daughters, Ann Scarff of San Francisco, Sally Kaczor of Kalamazoo, Peggy* Gogola of Caseville and Susan Dark of Gaylord; 4 brothers, Father Francis Flynn of Muskegon, Raymond and James of Gladwin and Wendell of Detroit; 3 sisters, Helen Husted of Waterford, Marquerite of Detroit and Ruth Falahee of Farmington; and 7 grandchildren; Services were held Thursday at 11 a.m. from St. Huberts Catholic Church in Roscommon. The Rev. Father James Kendziorski, the Rev. Father Francis Flynn and Msgr. Thomas Horton officiated and burial was in Gerrish Township Cemetery. A rosary was said at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. GCR 2/29/1984
