Rodney Darryl Bowen, 69, of Oak Ridge, died Sunday, January 8, 2006 at the Methodist Medical Center. He was born July 13, 1936 in Langland, Alabama.

Mr. Bowen graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1954. After serving in the US Navy and graduating from the University of Tennessee, he worked as a case worker for the State of Illinois in Rockford, IL. He returned to Oak Ridge in 1991.

He is survived by his mother, Rubye Bowen of Oak Ridge; his daughter and son-in-law, Lissa and Ed Garver of Spillville, Iowa; grandchildren, Michael Garver of Spillville, Iowa and Nicole Garver of Rockford, Illinois; sister and her husband, Susan and Dana Coleman and nephew Paul Ryon of Oak Ridge.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in his name. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at 11:00am at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
