Born on January 30, 1924 in Pittsburgh, he is the son of the late Andy and Mary (Olexa) Snizik
He was a graduate of Stow High School in McKee's Rocks and went on to attend Elon College. He was a Staff Sergeant in the US Army Air Corps who served in the South Pacific Theater during WWII. He was retired from the York-Gregg Elevator Co. where he served as President for many years. He had also worked for the Commonwealth of PA as Chief of Elevator Inspection. He is a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, West Shore Country Club, Disabled American Vets, Tuesday Club, Harrisburg, NAEC, and was an honorary member of the Engineering Society of PA. He loved cars, playing golf, traveling to the shore, and working.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Mary Elizabeth (Hadfield) Snizik, of Lemoyne; a son, Richard "Rick" Snizik and his wife Claudia, of Mechanicsburg
He was preceded in death by five brothers, John, Lewis, Andrew, Georg, and Albert Snizik; two sisters, Velma Murry, and Margaret DeSalle.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday November 19, 2009 at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 3435 Trindle Rd., Camp Hill, with the Rev. Paul C. Helwig as Celebrant. Burial will be held in the Rolling Green Memorial Park, Camp Hill.
